Bog Oak ( Morta ) can be found in various locations around the world, usually in swamps or moors in northern Ireland. It lies beneath the wet surface of peat soil and mineral-rich clay. It is found in the form of huge trunks in the process of petrification due to the lack of oxygen. Before being transformed into a pipe, it must be seasoned for a minimum of 2 years.
